I made the 16 hour drive from Indio yesterday and arrived at the Slide Inn at 11 pm Montana time.  Got up this morning and walked over to the shop to check in and grab a up of coffee.  Talked to Johnny for a few and then walked back to my room to get ready to fish.  Despite the weather reports I had sunny skies until about 4 pm.  Then in true river valley style a 10 minute rain and sleet shower hit just as I got back to the car.

I walked down almost to the big bend from the upper parking area by $3 and started fishing my way back upstream.  The fishing itself was as a bit slow, as expected with the increasing flows due to the start of the run off.  I got two looks on a black Butt Monkey and missed a couple with an olive Dungeon.  After rotating through all the colors twice I tied on a Dungeon spin-off that I tied the day before I left town.  I had one fish roll on it twice after missing it the first time.  A few minutes later I hooked and landed what should be about a 16 to 17 inch brown.  I'll have to measure my rod after looking at the pic I got.

I headed down to the Grizzley for some dinner and then back to $3 for one more run.  I got two more big rolls on my fly and then landed a 15 inch brown before calling it a night.

Time for some whiskey...
